Welcome to Ming Tian's Homepage at
NC State University!
A self-profile Brought up in Chengdu, the center city of Southwestern China, I natively acquired the primary characteristics of the southern Chinese, diligent and cooperative. Campus life & Academic background In 1992 I left my hometown for Beijing since Beijing Univ. of Aeronautics & Astronautics ( BUAA) honorably admitted me as a freshman majored in Aerodynamics in the Dept. of Flying Vehicle Design & Applied Mechanics. During my four-year undergraduate study, I took many courses in Fluid Mechanics and other related subjects. Generally speaking, my undergraduate education experience has been quite pleasant. I took part in some extracurricular activities enthusiastically. Football, movies, music, and various school associations made my university life colorful and substantial. Upon graduation with a B.E. degree from BUAA in 1996, I entered a research institute of China Aviation Administration. In that place I realized my lack of knowledge of Fluid Mechanics. After half a year's endeavor, in April 1997, I was admitted to Peking University, which is the best university in China, for a Master Degree in Fluid Mechanics. I not only took a number of courses to improve my subject knowledge but also audited many lectures to enlarge my knowledge background and to satisfy my curiosities to modern science. To earn some research experience for the future, I entered the State Key Laboratory for Turbulence Research, SKLTR, in fall 1997. After a long time preparation and application procedure, I was admitted by Dept. of Mech.&Aero. Engineering in North Carolina State University to pursue my Ph.D. degree. I expect to gain my Doctoral degree on May, 2005. Interests My intended areas include: "Turbulence", "CFD", "Aerodynamics" , "Environmental Fluid Mechanics", and "Heat Transfer". |
